Adding NIS user to NIS domain

• Add new user: useradd username (creates entries in /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow on the Master)
• Create initial user’s password: passwd username (necessary since ‘useradd’ creates locked account so you need to unlock it)
• So these are entries to local host, you need to copy them to say /var/yp/etc/passwd and shadow file (these are map input files)
• Make sure Makefile correctly specifies directory where password input files are.
• For security reasons you may consider deleting entries from /etc/passwd and /etc/shadow files, since you don’t need user to login on Master
• Delete them using userdel username
• And now since password input file is ready, update passwd maps by running make
• Example: cd /var/yp/etc ; /usr/ccs/bin/make passwd
